Behind the scenes issues that may kill Game of Thrones

Pretty interesting read, it brings up some issues that I hadn't thought of, most notably that it takes Martin an average of five years to write each book. The show is running out of source material and may take control of the story if Martin can't finish the books in time.
If GoT is forced to take a hiatus, the size of the budget will likely kill the show altogether.

GOTs isn't taking a hiatus. They will continue whether they have Martins books or not.
I think eventually the two stories will split whenever the show passes the book up and there will be two different endings

Thy know how the story ends so theyll either make up the rest themselves to reach that ending or do something on a past event like Roberts rebellion to buy some more time.

Martin already told the show runners how the books end

So he told them how the story ends, what about everything in the middle?

He told them how every character story ends. It doesn't take much effort to fill in the rest.

Not only this, but it's been pretty well known for awhile that Martin knows if it gets to the point that it passes the books that the show is going to keep chugging along.
D&D has done a pretty good job of cutting out unnecessary characters and things like that it to this point. The story has already been different in parts while still coming to major plot points. I do think HBO learned it's lesson from Rome and with the popularity of the show that production costs won't be that much of an issue.
I don't know if they can afford pulleys though.

It is known.

You know nothing, Jon Snow.

I don't think any of those 4 are fair points. Stupid article.

The only one that's of any slight concern is 3, and the rest are fine. Both Arya's and Sansa's actress' have stopped growing, and Bran is the only concern now. Arya still looks like she's 12 despite being nearly 18, so I think we'll be fine with her.

Seriously. That article makes it seem like the writer thought these questions up out of thin air.

The article completely ignores how much influence and input they get from GRRM. Hell the dude writes an episode a season.
It's not like if they write out a seemingly minor character for the show that they will have no clue if Martin had bigger plans for him. They can just call him up and be like "hey is this guy important, like at all?" And go from there
Cracked loves to be dramatic though

I mean, he does write an episode for the show every season too .
Posted on 6/18/14 at 11:38 pm to UMRealist
Which ones has he written btw?

He has written the scripts for the eighth episode of the first season, the ninth episode of the second season, seventh episode of the third season and the second episode of the fourth season.[1] It is planned that he will write one episode per season of the show.

Even he hated Jofferey so much that he had to control how it happened

the show has already shown things that haven't been in the books yet...
