They should just cancel Spain vs Australia.

You know it.

I should claim 2003 too, some LSU posters said that we could last night.

What would the equivalent of this be in other sports?

#1 seed losing in the first round of the NCAA tourney?

I mean they lost to a great team and a good team, but still...

They're #1 in the world.

It would be like Alabama losing all 12 games this year.

It would be like FSU and Florida going 2 and out in their own regional. Lost to 2 good teams but should have done better.

Not at all. But the way they lost was pretty bad.

I could not think of any thing else that would compare.

More like Alabama not making a bowl game (or playing in a craopy bowl) the year after a national championship

wtf? this isn't even a rare occurrence. Defending champs France in 2002 and Italy in 2010 didn't make it out of group play.

Last time defending champ had 0 points is a much better question.

Something like this is more comperable.

BUT there are 4 years between World Cups so that doesn't really fit either.

It would be like Usain Bolt not making the Semi-Finals in the 100 or 200. Something like that.

More like the USA basketball team not getting out of group play in the Olympics.
