State Sen. Neil Riser, R-Columbia, told LaPolitics Monday that he will not be a candidate in the upcoming election in the 5th Congressional District.

“I always go with my gut instincts and I think this race is winnable but I think there could be something else in the future, too. I won’t be running in the 5th Congressional District this fall. I’m not ruling anything else out in the future, but I’m not going to be a part of this race in the fall,” Riser said.

Earlier today, businessman Zach Dasher, the cousin of Duck Commander chief executive Willie Robertson, also announced that he would be a candidate in the 5th Congressional District.

I guess Jindal and Riser finally figured out who controls North Louisiana politics these days, and it ain't one of them.

Meanwhile...Rodney Alexander...government leach.

Does Jindal still wield any political influence within the state?

Jindal is going with the "if ya can't beat them, get them on your team and create a mutual advantage" strategy this time.

Sort of, in that he has a huge fricking warchest of money that he can share with the candidate of his choice.

Of course, the whole Eric Cantor thing in Virginia shows that money doesn't necessarily mean anything if the electorate is upset with you.

I asked the same question when the daughter of the Clinton Dynasty got $600K per minute from NBC.

Well...he did influence the LAGOP to go from ads comparing John Alario to a criminal mob boss to just a couple weeks ago given him some honorary award for his "public service".

So there's that.

Very much so. He is at the top of the food chain in the Louisiana spoils system and isn't shy about going after foes or rewarding those who play along.

More likely I think is that Riser figured his shenanigans with Rodney are still a little too fresh. If/when he runs he wants that forgotten.

Must be a good guy with that name. Same as Mettenberger. Everyone named Zach is good. Everyone named Obama is bad. But if someone can come up with a good guy named Obama I shall respond.

Running on the Jesus platform

quote:

Dasher is running on a conservative Christian platform with the blessings of his famous relatives.

"We speak and talk about how the Godly need to be involved in politics and in our government. When we see someone come along that fits that narrative, we want to get behind them," Al Robertson said.

North LA hicks gonna hick.

When you consider that Alexander was the baseline; I can't be too disappointed.
