No. Like I said, it's taking up 4 GB of space. I have text from 2 years ago on there and I don't really need them.

I've seen a bunch of "solutions" on the internet but they don't really work. I would love to know the answer to this also.

Delete your iCloud backup and check it again.

In each conversation, highlight one message, click more, and at the top left choose delete all. This has worked for me.
