Anyone know the best way to go about doing this? I had a tree from the property next to mine fall on my fence. I've called the city and they could not help me.

What parish? Call the assessor's office.

I would just fence it in and see who objects.

Look at the digital map on the tax assessor's website. It has landowner on it

Give me a quick cliffs on that or link. I drive by that property all the time and I've heard quick jabs about it.
and yes OP many states have online property tax records for each county/parish with owner information. Texas and La(most parishes) for sure.

I'd put a sign up & hope the owner see's it.
Put your name, number, & e-mail on it.

The adjacent owner is only responsible for the part of the tree that fell on his property. It's on you to cut the tree off on your fence and property and fix the fence.
Unless of course you get in your time machine and go back a couple of months. Then send him a certified letter telling him to cut that dead tree before it falls on your fence.

Their search SUCKS(I'm a DBA). But you can start here with property information. You can call and ask as well. If all else fails, it's free to get info from going in any Clerk of Court office in EBR.
