Spurs GM and Pop should get MVP. Heat are screwed by salaries, no end in sight.

The spurs have an incredible roster. Hats off to Pop and RC Buford for building this club. Compare chalmers jones cole oden haslem beasley to Leonard Green Diaw Splitter belinelli.... thats a joke.

One major difference is Spurs have done an amazing job in the draft and developing their own guys. Parker, Duncan, Gino, Splitter, Leonard (from Indy for George Hill), etc all drafted. They also snagged Green after his rookie season from Cleveland.

I guess there's too much $ tied up in the big 3 so Riley cant round out the team with any quality.
Here's the books for next year:

James - 19.07 mill (20.6 next year, then 22.1 mill player option in 2015-16)
Bosh - 19.07 mill (20.6 next year, then 22.1 mill player option in 2015-16)
Wade - 18.67 mill (20.1 next year, then 21.6 mill player option in 2015-16)
Haslem - 4.3 mill (4.6 mill player option next year,Im sure he'll stay no one else will pay this)
Cole - 1.1 mill, 2.0 next yr
Birdman - 1.4 mill, 1.4 next yr

*I like the "per 36 minutes" stat on basketball-reference site. Birdman averages 10 rebs and 12 pts/per 36 mins while Bosh averages 7 rebs and 18 pts. Birdman is getting minimum 1.4 mill per year. Bosh gets 20.

Duncan - 10.00 mill, 10.0 next yr
Parker - 12.5 mill, 12.5 next yr
Splitter - 10.0 mill, 9.25 next yr
Ginobili - 7.5 mill, 7.0 next yr
Diaw - 4.7 mill, needs extension
Green - 3.7 mill, 4.0 next yr
Leonard - 1.9 mill, 2.9 next yr(I would extend him now)
Belinelli - 2.8 mill, 2.8 next yr
Ayres - 1.7 mill, 1.8 next yr
Joseph - 1.1 mill, 2.0 next yr
Dave - 900k, 1.0 next yr

Obviously there's more than one way to skin a cat, and these two approaches are total opposite. Pretty obvious the Spurs are in better shape in the near and extended future.

It's like a moronic teenager playing a video game put the team together.

Actually all of the Big 3 can opt out this year so there is end in sight if that's the way they want it.

The big 3 can't opt out and resign for less money? Isn't that where the carmelo rumors are coming from?

I mean it did work for a few years but now they're fricked. (especially with Wade aging...) Riley got two trophies out of the deal so not all bad. He mortgaged the future and I would say it paid off.

They need to a solid PG and a young, strong big man who can push around people in the lane.

Chalmers/Cole are a disaster in this series and Bosh is a VERY weak (as in strength) center.

They need to clean house except for Bron/Allen(role player/sniper).

Their "role" players are killing them. So I agree with your post in its entirety.

Yes they definitely could. IMO, the Heat need defense more than anything. I think Carmelo would be a debacle added to this group.

and add this.

If they get them to agree, they can clean house. They just aren't going to have many suitors for a decrepit Wade.

No doubt.

Terrible decision that would be.

Go after some young, hungry very athletic guys.

BUT STAY THE frick AWAY FROM ANTHONY DAVIS.

Some idiotic team will pick up wade as their focal point. He can't be batman on a team anymore much less robin, but some team will do it.

I mean they won 2 championships. They had bigger goals but I'd still call it a success.

My point is the heat are screwed. If these guys stay together it will be difficult to even make the finals again imo. If they opt out, then obviously the Heat are done.

Really can't blame them for paying James and Wade. Bosh, on the other hand, was probably a mistake. Obviously it worked out for them since it led to two championships but I think they could have done just as well getting two above average players for the money they're paying Bosh.

I dont see any team giving Wade 20 mill/year. He's either going to redo his Heat deal for less if they sign more talent, or will take his 44 mill that he has coming.

History has shown that the Heat organization will not overpay players when push comes to shove. Wade is not getting a Kobe-like contract.

Agreed. It was a gamble that paid off. I think Riley (and everyone) knew this big 3 approach was to win and win now. They did that, 2 trophies in the case. It absolutely worked. They knew the future would be mortgaged but hey it did pay off.

I agree, but Bosh would still be an NBA star if he was option A. He's option C and the offense rarely goes through him. He never gets a chance to get into a rhythm. He's still in good health and if he gets in another system I think you will see a bit of a resurgence for a couple years before he gets really old.

They should have gotten 2 solid players instead of him. For that money you can get a good center and a good PG.
