Setting up Cox Internet Question- Router/Modem

Im trying to save money on my internet set up with cox. I know NOTHING about wireless internet. Do i need to purchase a modem & a router or do they sell ones that are combined?
The dual band modem cox is trying to sell me is $149.99. would i need a router with this too?
If so... do you recommend any cheaper options?

Yes. If you purchase one yourself, make sure it is on Cox's approved modem list or they will give you shite about using it.

I personally use this modem and it is on the preferred list for the highest tier that cox offers:

I just bought this modem yesterday to get away from renting that shitty gateway from Comcast. Before I was only getting ~26 mbps d/l when I've been paying for 50. I ran a speed test shortly after set up to confirm what a great purchase this modem was.
