With the purchase of my Wii U I am looking at going back to playing some old Wii games that I had missed. What is the best place to buy used games? I normally had always relied on gamefly, but they have a very limited selection. Is Ebay the most cost effective way?

Buy new and support the developers, don't be selfish...

I always hit up the GameXchange in town. Their selection of new games blows, but they have any used game that I've ever wanted. If you have one in town, go there. Gamestop's selection can be alright sometimes also.

Yep. I'll buy new games as they come out, but no reason not to buy used games for ones released years ago.

Well some of the old games you can still get new for a negligible price difference.

If your looking for older system games, pawnshop or secondary store(goodwill, etc).

True, but that is some, not all. There is the fact that I never go to the store knowing what I want to purchase. It gives me a chance to browse all the older games.

People on this board don't like the used game market, but until it vanishes with the increased use of digital gaming, I'll continue to use it.

Does renting games have the same negative connotation? I have never really bought used games in the past.

I don't fall into that bucket. Developers have been putting out garbage in hopes of quick pay days since the beginning. Hell look what they did in the 80s. Now with the rise of early access games that never leave the early access stage after they made their cash, I feel no pain for devs when it comes to the used game market.

Especially when it comes to the lack of them giving us an acceptable way to play classics. Shouldn't have to resort to Mame/Emus/Roms. It's ridiculous how little memory the entire library of NES roms is.

I'm of the mind to do your due diligence before you buy a game new. make sure you're highly certain it will be worth supporting the developers.

I think if you want to play their game you should be willing to pay for it. I don't have any problems with people buying used games, I just choose not to. I don't understand blaming crap games because if it is crap then why are you buying it? This isn't 1985, the internet has plenty of resources for you to decide if you want to play it or not.

I don't know the impact gamefly has on the market. It's probably similar though. The difference in peoples perception is more than everyone hates gamestop and gamefly doesn't seem to bother people.

as for the early access issue, it's a concerning issue. However, that issue doesn't really have anything to do with used games since that's an issue currently on pc for digital purchases. I haven't, nor do I plan on buying anything early access. I also won't fund kickstarter.

I can't help with in the used game department but if you missed Skyword Sword like a lot of ppl did, I recommend playing. The mechanics are odd at first but make for a good experience once you're used to it.

It's not really about blaming it on the crap that I screw up and buy or don't buy. It's more about not having some loyalty or feeling I owe something to these devs to buy it new vs used when they actually do make something decent.

I don't play new consoles anymore, so it's not really an issue for me any longer anyway. Digital download or pirate from now on. Steam sales are a good way to go to me.

When I did used game, I had success with ebay/amazon/local non gamestop used media businesses.

Which is fine. I'm just stating my own personal policy. I get most of my stuff through steam sales too so it's rarely an issue for me.
