I am considering heading down to Leeville on Saturday and fishing Lake Raccourci. I wanted to know is it fairly safe to run through Lake Raccourci or do I need to worry about sandbars or underwater obstructions? I do not plan to go to timbalier island because of all the submerged rocks and structure.

I run raccourcci all the time with no issues but there are sandbars and flats. Just have to pay attention and if you start kicking up mud stop and ease into deeper water. If you head down toward cass tete and calumet islands you need to watch for sandbars in that area as well. You sure don't want to get grounded out there.

Thanks, I probably won't be going that far. I think I am going to fish the edges of raccourci where there are run outs.

we run it all the time. we go out of either Gray's canal or havoline canal. if it is not rough we go gray's. go out past camp and rocks, heliport to left, and go where you want. it is shallow se and sw of calumet.

there is a big incoming tide so you should be good. we are headed that way this evening.

Is Bobby Lynn's the best place to put in? Also, do any of the bait shops in Leeville carry live shrimp?

Yes

Or there is a group of camps passed Bobby Lynn's with 2 roads going in and out. I think you can put in back there but I can't remember.

Bobby Lynn's north is a little far north, but you can. Bobby Lynn's south is where we have our camper. it has a launch and is about 3 or 4 miles farther south. It is located just before the water tower on old LA 1.

Put in last summer at one of the hotels on the right side of LA-1. There is a canal that dumps you right in the canal that takes you into little lake. Cross little lake and you get right into the bay about 3 Miles from Philo Brice.

We ended up catching 60-70 trout on Vudu shrimp. Most were 11-11.5". Ended up keeping 13 trout. The weather was great.
