I suppose we need to get a good-ole-boy in that spot before the November elections. The elites are doing what elites do, scrambling on how to save their power and keep those pesky teapartiers out/

kevin mcarthy is the first name being thown out, I don't think the elites want a face of defiance to O in the leadership, of course they may not have a say if the trend continues

I'm quite sure his plate is full right now. Check back in January when the 114th congress opens.

They don't seem to realize that people have a serious problem with the Republican House being the "me too" caucus, thanks to Boehner breaking the Hastert rule and passing Dem bills with a small group of Republicans and the vast majority of the Dem caucus.
McCarthy or someone else could win the Majority Leader spot for the rest of this session, but there will be new leadership elections after the next Congress is seated in January. If the Tea Party makes major inroads and some "establishment" candidates lose, the balance of power may shift.
It won't mean a Tea Party member directly in the leadership but COULD mean that the ML or Majority Whip will be someone who isn't part of the existing establishment clique.

Sadly, the reason is a little more banal. McCarthy is simply next in line.
