I don't think there were ever any "glory days".

Seems like at every point in history there are always people claiming the decline of our country and its values and longing for the old days when this country was a great place.

Yep. Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.

I can see the blood dripping from Thatcher's Irish-hating hands.

WWII was not this country's "glory days".

If anything, WWII should be looked upon as the conflict that basically guaranteed the end of Western Civilization. Idiotic patriotard "We won" gloating aside, it was a stupid conflict and signaled the end of the West.

The period just following WWII. All of these happened quickly:

We became recognized as a global superpower.
Suburbs were invented making affordable housing accessible.
Lots of new inventions including T.V.
Interstate Highway System was constructed.
Air Conditioning
A lot of advances in medicine including polio vaccine.

Nah, at the end of WWII, or "The Great Patriotic War" as we call it in Mother Russia, the U.S.A. was the only industrialized nation on Earth with full production capacity and The Bomb.

At that point the US could have conquered any country in the world if it wanted to, almost unchallenged.

The U.S. boomed for two reasons:

1. We had pillaged new technology from all over Europe.

2. Most of the rest of the "First World" was bombed out and destroyed so we were alone able to "make stuff".

The Post War boom was very, very artificial.

Honestly I'd say 9/11 was the end of the West. Now we are just as oppressive as those we hated for so long.

1948 - 1965

Went to shite after "Great Society"

1981-1993 was a brief respite in the decline.

1993-2005 was a lost opportunity

2006-present has been an express train to Hell

It was over in 1913. Killing Kennedy just hastened the decline.

Interesting that you equate bullying with glory.
