A friend saw him at the Nola airport Monday night. Thoughts on his fit with the roster?

Seems like a big body to pair with Davis shot blocking.

He has a 7'2" wingspan, and a 8'11" standing reach, while weighing 280

ANthony Davis wingspan is 7'5", and has a 9' standing reach, only 1" above the shortest guy ever Dejaun blair.
Blair is probably more capable of guarding centers than Davis is b/c of his weight, lower center of gravity, and long reach which makes him play a lot taller than he actually is.

THere's more to a guys "basketball" height than just his height.

He does have good rebounding and acceptable foul rate numbers, but he's no rim protector. As a 1 year stop gap if we can't find anyone else, sure. But the fact that the king of making role players shine was stuck trying to dump him for nearly 2 seasons says he isn't a long term answer.

No, but he should be available for the minimum meaning we can spend our entire MLE (or $6.5ish in cap space if we go that route) on a SF.

Ya I wouldn't be mad about it. Better than spending the MLE on Spencer Haws IMO. Though I'm not sure what SF is worth the MLE right now. Here is my list: 1 - Andrei Kirilenko; far behind in 2nd - CJ Miles and 3rd - PJ Tucker

Bring him in on a league minimum deal.

I'm pretty sure he was on league minimum last year with Dallas.

Those numbers don't add up. I'm not saying you're wrong, but my head is hurting trying to make sense of that.

All that shite doesn't matter. Dudes not 280 to start with, and his knees are bone on bone and he cannot jump. hes a average defender and a decent rebounder. our money can be spent better elsewhere.

He's actually a very good rebounder and the money we are talking about is league minimum. If we need a big to fill a roster spot, he may be worth it. He certainly is not a difference maker.

He has played 2 years of college and 5 in the NBA with no ACLs. Hasn't been an issue

I guess if ST had the "Dexter McCluster is in NOLA" thread, then PT might as well have "DeJuan Blair is in NOLA" thread.

He would have use as a back up big at the right cost, but I doubt he comes to the Pelicans for "the right cost", and we have other needs besides another PF.

82games.com says he played almost exclusively at center last year, and he's never made more than $1 million in 5 years in the league. He's not getting more than the minimum from anyone, the question is will he still be on the market if we're down to our 4th or 5th choice and decide to call him.

I would imagine Blair being in NO has absolutely nothing to do with the Pelicans. It's against the rules for the team to talk to him about FA until July 1st.
