I watched this the other night after reading the thread about good docs to watch. I must say it was great and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
However, does anyone feel that the coach might have somewhat played these kids to get a better gig? He got them to buy into the program and put the team first and then he bails for a better gig.
You can tell he had genuine feelings for some of the Manasass kids and I understand that he wanted to spend more time with his own kids.
Even though he took the job at his kids school he seems like the type of coach that would let coaching consume all of his time no matter where he is at.

You're way off on him leaving that coaching job for a better job. I know Bill and he truly is a great person who really cares about those kids. He still keeps in touch with many of them today. He was a volunteer coach who left that job to be a volunteer coach at his son's school (to spend more time with his son). He makes a ton of money in the lumber business and lives in a giant house in midtown Memphis. Coaching is not his real job, just a hobby/passion of his. Google "Classic American Hardwoods" and Bill Courtney for more info about his real job.
