More freightening, Xenomorph or The Thing (spoilers?)

I'm sitting here watching John Carpenters The Thing which is one of my favorites. But I was wondering would The Thing be able to infect a Xenomorph? So it got me wanting to ask M/TV board: What's more freightening, the Xenomorph or The Thing?
I myself lean towards The Thing. Not because of any obvious reasons, but because of the first time I saw the scene where one of the guys walks out into the snow at night, drops to his knees and howls that almost metallic scream, I have never been more chilled in my life.

I think that if both of these reall existed then The Thing would be a much bigger threat to humanity. You never know where or who it is. It sneaks up unnoticed and overwhelms. The xenomorph is pretty apparent and more easily fought.

Well I know The Thing would be more difficult to deal with, I'm wondering what's more freightening to people? What would scare people more? A humanoid prefect killer or some metamorphic intelligent organ.

You'd be unable to trust anyone. Or your food. And you couldn't sleep. So... clearly the Thing.
As an example, if you knew the Thing and the Xenomorph existed, how would you handle meeting Newt in Aliens? In Xenomorph world, you take care of her. In The Thing world, you have to shoot her and then burn her body... and hope you were right and didn't just murder a little girl.

Even when you kill the xenomorph it shoots acid everywhere. Prob gonna go with that.

The fact that it is more difficult to deal with is what makes it scarier. I'm not going to be as scared of something that I think can be defeated. I'm going to be terrified if I think there is no hope. I also would be terrified if I possible had to kill a little girl because I wasn't sure if she was a threat or not, like in the example that Baloo gave.

The Thing, easily. Xenomorphs can be taken out easily by gunfire and I think I read a long time ago that from the moment they "hatch" they're slowly decaying and dying because the acid they use for blood is breaking down their body. Besides, without a Queen they're just drones. I mean, just look at Aliens. One stupid decision, going into the reactor site with no ammo, is the only reason the aliens even had a shot. Otherwise the USCM would have wiped the floor with the Xenomorphs.
Now if I was being personally stalked and hunted by the Predator then that would be a hell of a lot more scary than a Xenomorph or the Thing.
As far as what's scarier on a global scale, it's the Thing easily. I never understood Ripley's fear about "just one of those things" reaching Earth. It would get its arse kicked in a matter of minutes.

thing wins in a battle vs Queen Xenomorph.
Predator vs thing would be interesting. Would be interesting to see if the predator had tech that could spot a thing.

What if after waking up from being face hugged you find out the rest of your team is infected by The Thing?
