Sean Haugh is the Libertarian candidate for US Senate from North Carolina, where the incumbent Democrat is in a fight to hold her seat.
Haugh isn't doing terribly bad, either: polls have him with 8% of the vote, and the polls show he is taking votes from the GOP candidate.
His current polling leaves him two points shy of being eligible to participate in a debate hosted by the North Carolina Broadcast Association.
(Personally, I think he should be allowed to participate regardless of his numbers. Let the voters hear his arguments and decide one way or the other if what he has to say merits their support. I think both parties are afraid of competition: if he makes sense, the GOP loses votes and the Dems win; if he's a complete flake, the GOP gets votes and the Dems lose.)

Tillis is a RINO anyway so I could care less if he loses

Because the GOP candidiate is a RINO and people are voting libertarian because they refuse to vote for a pro-amnesty pro-establishment candidate who will simply be a rubber stamp for the Chamber of Crony Capitalism
I'd vote libertarian if I were in North Carolina also

Hopefully not, but the anti-establishment whine crowd probably won't care either way.

The problem is a lot of times one party or another backdoors another candidates campaign which is dishonest.
There needs to be 2 candidates, be it libertarian, tea party Republican etc. etc.

Libertarians are the worst.

Definitely happened in Virginia last year. I was so disgusted with the election that I moved to another state.

There was a libertarian candidate running against Jeff Landry and Charles Boustany in 2012. He participated in the debate with the other 4 candidates. 3 Rs and 1 D.
He pretty much just reiterated every time he got to speak he would legalize weed. No one can take that shite seriously.
The Libertarian movement, if it gained a legimate identity, could very well win elections, but there is a reason they keep getting trounced. You can't run to go Washington to just vote against every single piece if legislation.

"Other Party" candidates typically fare much better IN polls than they do AT the polls.
A November 1, 2012, poll by CNN in Ohio among Likely Voters showed Gary Johnson with 5.1% of the vote.
After all the ballots were counted 5 days later, he had received 0.89% of the vote.
