Yesterday Oscar Tavaras played his first game in STL and hit a homer in his second AB and shortly thereafter took a curtain call. For those who don't know he is a highly rated OF prospect who has generated a lot of publicity amongst cards fans

The point is this, do y'all think veterans might look down upon a rookie doing so on his first day in the big leagues? Especially when said player is such a talked about prospect?

This probably isn't a big deal but I could see it not going over great in the clubhouse

I believe Rick Ankiel did it as well in his first game as a position player in the major leagues but that's a whole different situation

I think vets would be happy the guy is having his dream come true that day. Now if it happens every time he goes yard that's different.

Agreed. Hit a bomb on your first day? Good for that guy.

4 weeks later, get your arse back in the dugout

I'm pretty sure he was urged to do the curtain call. When young guys do it it's usually because some vets tell him to get out there, isn't it?

It's more insulting not to do it when they are calling for it. The guy hit a HR to help the team, i doubt the veterans care.

The players in dugout pretty much made him take a curtain call they were all clearly happy for him after he hit the HR. You're reaching bro.
