Buddies boat lights aren't working. He works off shore and lets me use his 17 foot john now and again. Went over to his house the other day and it was full of water. His fil had used it and forgot to pull the plug. Anyway I drained it, cleaned it up and pulled the batter out and the positive and the ground wires to the lights had pulled off. The negative was okay. Were does the ground go with the fuse, to the positive or negative? Thanks in advance.

im pretty sure you dont want to ground into the aluminum boat, use positive and negative

If it had a inline fuse it go's to the Positive terminal of The battery.

So one end of the ground with the fuse, goes to the positive and the other end goes?

Should be two wires one with fuse is Postive(red) the other is the negitive(black).

ummm....the battery was under water?

Okay, here is whats on the battery now. Pos/neg engine elect. starter wires. Pos/neg troll motor wires. Then there is a black/red light wires and then this white wire (grd) hanging with a fuse in the middle, with no connectors on either end. And the red (pos.) light wire also had no connector. The black (neg.) still had its connector on it. I know the red light needs a connector and goes to the pos. side like the neg (blk) wire does. Just trying to figure out were to connect each end of the white (grd). Ill have to put connectors on each end, is that correct, and put one to the pos. and then the other to where? Sorry I can't show with pictures, not that far advanced in this internet age.

Yes, probably caused the wire connectors to come off. Dont know how long, also had to reconnect a connector for the pos. wire on the starter.

Ground goes to the negative post of the battery.

Where does the other end of the ground go to. One side to the neg. the other end on the other side of the fuse to where?
neg post----------fuse----------?
neg post----------fuse----------?

Red= hot+
Blk= ground -
White with a fuse has to be a +.
You need to see where that white wire feeds before hooking it up.

Here a wiring diagram that might help.

You do like your diagrams, and they seem to work.
The unused terminal, what might it be used for, dash lights?
Posted on 6/1/14 at 5:52 pm to QuietTiger
This boat only has two terminals, yours has six, wtf.

For dash lights I would add it to one of the top terminal. That way when you turn the Nav lights on the dash light will come on. When you turn the anchor light on the dash light will not come on.

Is the switch an on-off two positions switch.
If so you hook the postive from the bow and the stearn light to the top terminal. Connect the postive from the battery to the bottom terminal. The grounds from both lights to negative post of the battery. Now when you flip the switch both lights should come on.

The boat doesn't have a light switch/toggle. When you stick the lights in, they come on.

Then it easy then, postive from both the bow and stearn light to postive post. The negative wire from both stearn and bow light to negative post of the battery.

Put the plug back in and hope for rain.
