I was a PI, in times when there were huge cutbacks(think Carter trying to shut down the military,) my LSU(ROTC-them, not me,) peers were getting released from their commitments because the gov't. wouldn't send them to training. One phone call to a very powerful senator put me in the front of the line. Worked for "W," right? Then Reagan got elected, and it all exploded. Point is, don't let the opportunity slip away.
