Better for the US: Have a winner in the Germany/Portugal match or a draw?

I know there are a lot of WC related threads already started but I wasn't sure where to put this question.
Most are predicting to get out of the group the US is essentially required to get that W and the 3pts in the Ghana match because of how tough the Portugal and Germany matches will be, but what will be a better scenario for the US in the Germany v Portugal match?
If the US get its 3pts vs Ghana is it a better scenario for Germany and Portugal to get 1pt each or is it better for there to be a winner and have 1 of the European powers come up with 3 pts but the other starts in a 0pt hole?
What if the US and Ghana draw? Is the best scenario for the others to draw as well and everyone just starts with 1pt?

We want every game not involving the US to draw in an ideal world because only two points are doled out not three.

I think the ideal situation would be for Portugal and Ghana to drop as many points as possible.

Seriously? I swear I saw someone talk about getting 3pts in the WC. Maybe they were talking accumulation.

If a team wins, they get 3 points. If they draw, each team gets only one. So only two points are given out for a draw instead of three.

3 games in the group for each team, so the maximum points is 9 points.
3 points for a win
1 point for a draw
0 points for a loss
3 points for a win
1 point for a draw
0 points for a loss

Draw is 1+1=2 points total (one for each team).
Win is 3 points for one team.

Yeah that's what I thought. I just figured since 2 teams get out of a group which would be a better scenario after the 1st matches.
For example:
US - 3
Ger - 3
Port - 0
Ghana - 0
or
US - 3
Ger - 1
Port - 1
Ghana - 0
With each team have 2 more games left it just seemed like it might be a better scenario to for the US to have 2 teams with 0 pts going into their 2nd game than to 2 have 2 teams with 1 pt.

In a perfect world, a draw.
But this world ain't perfect and we need Germany to destroy Portugal. The odds of us beating/drawing Portugal are much greater than that against Germany.

I agree with this. USA needs to beat Ghana, and at worst draw Portugal.

imho, it would be better if we win vs. Ghana, that Germany wins by 3 or 4 goals ( bigger the better ) then, even if we lost to Portugal by 1 goal we would still both be on 3 points and Germany would be on 6 and have a big goal differential, and they would essentially be coasting in the final game, already having locked up first place.( with a huge goal differential ) Of course if we draw with Portugal and have a 4 point to 1 point advantage with a huge goal difference for CRZ & company to make up, we would be sitting pretty win, lose or draw vs. Germany.
I know that sounds complicated, but I think we want Germany to win big, especially since we play them last. If we played Portugal last and Germany 2nd I would probably hope for a big Portugal win.
