Twice, Aaron Nola says.

In three years of taking pitch calls from LSU pitching coach Alan Dunn, the Tigers ace has twice wanted to shake off the sign. He didn’t, of course. After all, no one wants to deal with the consequence of shaking off a pitch.

“We don’t shake off,” fellow LSU pitcher Alden Cartwright said. “He gives us the ability to do it, but he says, ‘You better have a reason if you’re going to do it.’ ”

Pitches aren’t the only thing called from the dugout. Pickoff attempts and pitchouts are also called by Dunn.
_________

A talkative person, Mainieri learned during Dunn’s first season not to distract the coach during pitch calls.

“The only time I can talk to him is between innings,” Mainieri said. “He’s so focused.”

Dunn was such a great hire by Coach. I hope we can keep him around for a while.

How old are Dunn's kids? I hear that the family is happy here.

Classic movie. The greatest puppet sex scene in cinematographic history.

He gives us so much cred with pitcher recruits. Much like Cameron does for us with O skill players in football.

I don't remember the details, but I was told that his family was very comfortable here and the kids were happy in school. This on top of his nice salary might keep him around a couple more years.

I know his oldest son graduated from Parkview and is going to play college baseball at a small school out of state.

There's a hefty fricking fee.

Best line in the movie--until Gary's speech at the end.

Back on topic. Alan Dunn brings so much to this team. I hope he stays for a few more years. He must be getting attention from other schools though.

No question he's been great. Record number of shut-outs this year at LSU, and a staff that hasn't really had good stuff, except for Nola. He's done a great job getting them to pitch to an awesome defense behind them.

I bet anybody looking for a HC has got to be looking at him. I just checked out his bio and except for an early assistant coach gig at Vandy, he has always been a pitching coach. Let's hope that is all he wants to be.

At the LSU practice today Dunn was working with Bouman during a 30 minute bullpen session.

I sat in the front row bleacher seats by the bullpen pitcher's mound just so I could observe and hear Dunn working with a pitcher. Chinea was catching.

I was in awe of Dunn's handling of the process. It was a thing of beauty.
