So why doesn't Matt Kemp start for the dodgers anymore?

I'm reading it has something to do with his defense??? I haven't really kept up with him since I quit playing fantasy baseball year before last but I have a hard time believing Ethier is a better option. And then I see Crawfird roll his ankle and Van Slyke replace him instead of Kemp. Kinda bizarre IMO
