Think you've done something awesome lately?
That video halfway down the article of him reuniting with some of the kids he's saved is pretty fricking awesome.
Based on the kids he saved and their future generations:

After saving 669 children, most of them Jewish, from likely death at Nazi concentration camps at the onset of World War II, it was announced Monday -- on Winton's 105th birthday -- that the heroic Englishman will be awarded the Order of the White Lion, the highest order in the Czech Republic, the Associated Press reported. In the official announcement, Czech President Milos Zeman noted Winton's example of humanity, selflessness, personal bravery and modesty as reasons for the prestigious honor. The award will be given to Winton this October.

He created advertisements for foster homes. He manipulated paperwork to sidestep government red tape that would have gotten in his way, CBS News reported. He even persuaded Germans to go along with his plan. Continuing his efforts from his home in London for the next nine months, Winton coordinated eight train evacuations of 669 children from Czechoslovakia to Britain, saving them from almost certain death.

According to the Guardian, there are roughly 6,000 people around the world today that owe Winton their lives.

Why are they waiting so long? I don't want to take away from how awesome this man is, but at 105, I would think every month you get is a luxury.

Ohhh I saw this on dateline or something a few weeks ago. He was very humble about it like he was just doing what he needed to be done kind of thing. ..

From the article:
quote:
"I work on the motto that if something's not impossible, there must be a way of doing it," Winton told CBS News last month.

There was a 60 minutes on this recently. He was sitting in an auditorium with hundreds of people and he didn't know any of them. The person at the podium said "Stand up if you would not be alive if it weren't for this man"
Every single person stood up and he started crying.
There wasn't a dry eye in my house for that.

it is truly amazing that things like that happened and the humility it brings to people. you do those heroic things not because it was someone looking for glory, but because it was right, and you were the man in that moment doing your duty, doing what had to be done.

A) You can go frick yourself.
B) My point was that what you're talking about was directly talked about in the article (with a video clip).
