Not sure if I believe this because a centralized doctoring of scores isn't even needed.

The teachers and schools have already been accused, and many caught for doctoring scores.

After reading some of it, that does seem to go further than simply improving grades.

Fire every one proven to be guilty with a lifetime ban on any participation in education above janitor, even at that level I am a bit leery due to unions in the system.

This is about alleged fraud within the Louisiana Department of Education.

Which union does Superintendent John White, his appointees, and the state workers who are tasked with collecting and reporting the data belong to?

ETA: This thread has been up since mid-morning and only five replies. The poliboard would rather argue about shite in Washington than issues in this state that directly affect them, and that they might have some direct influence over if they got involved.

Wouldn't surprise me if this was going on.

HOWEVER, I have to imagine that with his Eye on the Prize, Jindal (and/or his advisors who shield him from everything) wouldn't be on board with the Sec of Education participating in such wide-spread fraud.

I don't see Jindal's people at this point taking any chance that could spoil his plans for 2016 (though truth be told, he's doesn't belong on a stage for President anyway).

I gave up on national politics years ago and concentrated my efforts on local and state.

White is just another Jindal yank that thinks he's gonna come down here and show all of us dumb southerners how to do it.

He's a criminal, like most pub Ed chronies.

Well, there was certainly a delay in releasing the test scores, with absolutely no explanation why. I can vouch for that part, at least.

Is that the gold standard? 95% of all posts would fail to meet this criteria.

The thread is about the controversy, which is real.

You would think that someone some where in the system would have made these allegations previously if this has been occurring for several years. Wouldn't the folks in the RSD be surprised to find out they qualified for grants they didn't expect if they reported lower test scores than necessary to qualify for the grants? Wouldn't the same apply to the individual schools and the companies issued the charters for the schools? There would need to be collusion for this to be a top-down plan, and keeping a conspiracy quiet isn't likely.

For any score changing scheme to escape detection, it would have to start at the bottom and work its way up to keep the information consistent at all levels. Any manipulation of test scores at higher levels would be easy to uncover with simple audit procedures.
