That day in history is known for the Great Chicago Fire, which killed around 300 people.
A little known fact is the forrest fire that occurred the very same day about 300 miles north in Wisconsin, which killed 2,000 people.
There were also forrest fires in two areas in Michigan that resulted in mass death.
Odd stuff.
