Went from a 04 f 150 to a 2011 silverado 6 spd and may jump back into a 08 f 150 lariat 4x4 .. Is the extra gears worth the gas mileage ?

Considering Ford and GM will be going to 8, 10, and 12 speed transmissions for to meet fuel economy you might as well wait a few more years if mpg is that much of a concern.

the rear end ratio is something to consider depending on what you use the truck for..

I think the difference will be due to the chevy being a 2011 and the fords both being older.

so whats the problem? Do you not like the lower RPMs at highway speed? Are you towing and having trouble with the truck finding a gear it likes?

As stated its the wave of the futher so buckle up and enjoy the ride...
