Movies, Television, and Novels that Depict Slavery

So I watched Django Unchained the other day for the first time. Good flick.
But something caught my mind about halfway through when Mr. Stevens was introduced. It was just a vague thought for most of the movie, but Samuel L Jackson's portrayal really hit me.
The way he spoke and his dialect and mannerisms - it was recognizable.
I started wondering where would I have seen a depiction of slavery in a movie or film. I couldn't really think of much. Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn for books. Other than, nothing was coming to mind.
What movies and shows would have taught me about this?

Yeah he kinda sounded like Jules from Pulp Fiction or Mace Windu from the Star Wars prequels.

Apocalypto comes to mind but not sure if that slavery counts in your discussion. My favorite though has to be gladiator.

I have sadly only seen The Patriot and Gods and Generals on this list. I need to get with it.
But still, even the almost comical performance by Jackson...I have seen that somewhere before. Maybe just a conglomerate of all the cartoons, documentaries and videos I've seen throughout my life.
I'm 30 to the person that asked.

If you haven't saw Glory, do it. Now.
And Jacksons character in that movie reminded me of Uncle Reemis.
