I have $1k-$1.5k to get a new mower. I'm tired of pushing my yard and I want a small Zero Turn, approximately 36". Any recommendations?

Get on Craigslist and see whats available in your area. For that money, you are probably going to be able to find a residential zero turn from one of the box stores.

I had the same needs. I needed a 36" for passing through gates around the fenced portion of my back yard pool.
Dixon Speed ztr 36 was the only 36" I could find in my area. I've had it for four years and no problems yet.
Just researched to provide a link for you and it appears Dixon no longer makes the 36", but they do make a 30" ZTR. LINK doesn't appear to be anywhere close to the quality of the 36" I have.
I don't think you will have much luck finding a good ZTR for the money you have budgeted. Good luck though.

You won't get much quality at 1500 in a zero turn.

Take a look at the Snapper rear engine models, they been around for a long time. Snapper Yes, it not a zero turn, but the turn radius is very good for the price. $1200

Gravely makes a 34" that will pass through 36" gates. My dad had one for almost 8 years and really liked it.

I've got an Ariens 40" I'll make you a hell of a deal on. I went to a self propelled push mower due to all the damn flower beds in my yard, it's easier to cut. The mower runs good, it needs a new tensioner pulley for the mower belt. It works like it is now, just the belt comes off some times. I'll make you a deal you can't pass up - inbox me if interested texastiger_1@yahoo.com
This isn't the actual mower, but it gives you an idea of what it is. In similar shape.

I do not think you will find any value in a zero turn in that price range. Quality residential zero turns start at about $2500. Good luck.

The only thing I'm worried about on getting a non ZTR is the turning radius. My back yard is completely fenced in and with a regular riding mower I wish it would have a tighter turning radius.
