Employees at an ObamaCare processing center in Missouri with a contract worth $1.2 billion are reportedly getting paid to do nothing but sit at their computers.

"Their goals are set to process two applications per month and some people are not even able to do that,"

quote:

The whistleblower employee told the station that weeks can pass without data entry workers receiving even a single application to process

They’re told to sit at their computers and hit the refresh button every 10 minutes, no more than every 10 minutes,

As ususal, one of your posts sounds like bullshite. I worked for a company that adminstered medical benefits for three states. It is a highly competitive market and the call centers were always understaffed.

The gov't rates these contractors on a number of performance factors. These ratings are made public by DHS.

1 disgruntled ex-employee does not = evidence.

If open enrollment is over until Nov - Dec why is the place even open?

One would think they would be contract labor and would have been laid off in April.

Tell them Jindal is more than willing to hand out state funds to incompetent contractors involved with the ACA.

If the website developer got 26 million, who knows how much they can get.

I'm not claiming mine as 'news' or making a thread about it.

And you can look up DHS and see for yourself. Or just continue being a douche. Makes no difference to me.

The facility in Wentzville is operated by Serco, a company owned by a British firm that was awarded $1.2 billion in part to hire 1,500 workers to handle paper applications for coverage under the law, according to The Washington Post.

There were no American call center firms capable of handling this daunting task?

You made it sound like your personal experience completely discounted the story and said

Way to be completely dismissive of any possibility that there might be some sort of truth to the article, douche.

frick face, you have to compete for these contracts. These aren't no-bid contracts. They are lowest price, technically acceptable contracts. There are dozens of companies that bid on these, and they cut costs to the bone.

Do some research, for God's sake.

The irony is so thick

But Serco is also a company with a checkered present. In July, Britain placed its contracts with Serco Group and another firm under parliamentary review for charging for prisoner-related services it did not provide. The Serious Fraud Office has now launched an inquiry into the overcharging on electronic tagging contracts for offenders, following the claims by the justice secretary. In August, police were called in to investigate fraudulent behavior by Serco staff—falsifying documents under a seven year £285 million contract that calls for delivering prisoners to court on time. Last month, Serco CEO Chris Hyman resigned weeks before the launch of a government investigation into the alleged fraud.

Welcome to the world of government privatization and consulting contracts that you love so much.

It's private so you know it's all efficient and shite. No lazy workers.

Why would the administration not do this? It's not like we Americans are going to do anything other than hammer out angry message board rants about it and voice our disproval on Facebook and Twitter. I'm not lambasting anyone, I'm just pointing out the sad reality.

There was never any integrity. I dunno about the OP's link as it is from Foxnews which is an utter joke, but I've seen bloated gov contracts.

Particularly under GWB it was a much bigger and more prevelent problem. It appears to have gotten a lot better under Obama, but I'm sure there are still plenty of bloated gov contracts out there.
