STILLWATER – Oklahoma State’s football program will take an APR hit today when the NCAA releases its latest numbers.

The fallout: a loss of one practice day per week, according to a source within the athletic program.

As first reported by GoPokes.com and confirmed through the university source, OSU’s APR – Academic Progress Rate – numbers will fall below the NCAA minimum requirement, which is 930 spanning a four-year period, or 940 over a two-year period.

OSU fell a fraction of a point shy of avoiding penalty, with its number at 929.41 for the last four years. Had the Cowboys been at 929.50, the number would have been rounded up, meaning they missed by nine-one-hundreds of a point. The Cowboys avoided a more damaging postseason ban.

The program’s numbers were actually improved from a year ago, when OSU scored 926 over four years, but the NCAA raised its minimums for this season, from 900 for four years and 930 for two years, to 930 and 940.

The source said school officials anticipate that the penalty will be limited to one season, as the program has made adjustments resulting in significant improvements over the past two years. This reporting period spans the 2012-13, 2011-12, 2010-11 and 2009-10 school years, with the latter – one of the worst of the years calculated – falling off the books.

Wasn't there some rumor that Tennessee was going to get hit by this as well for a bowl game potentially?

Of course.

Another reason for Alabama to continue that 'rivalry'.

That sucks. Losing a day of practice a week when practice time is already very limited is arguably worse than losing scholarships.

TN has taken huge strides with regards to their APR... they were able to avoid any penalties.

It wouldn't matter for them anyhow.

They lose 2 hours of practice time per week not a specified day where they can't practice. Gundy likes to run shorter 90 minute practices each day so I can't see if really having much of an impact.
