For those of you who don't have a job, I know how lame LinkedIn is.

For the others:

Do you use it? At least maintain an account? What do you get out of LNKD?

Have job.

Don't use it.

Don't see purpose.

Have a career, but I keep mine updated. Like using connections function for jobs out of state. I have two friends who played in the NFL on my account and their peers are powerful to have.

have one that is very minimal.

i get occasional emails from people showing interest in what i have on there in addition to a lot of spam.

when i decide to relocate, i see it being a pretty useful and necessary tool.

I still don't know how to really use it. People endorse me and I think it's rather silly. Am I supposed to endorse them back?

I use linkedin weekly, but having a connection with someone on linkedin gives you 0 real power.

My mother endorses me on pretty much every thing I do.

Becoming friends with my parents on social media is the second biggest mistake I've made in life next to getting into social media.

LinkedIn seems to have a fairly practical use though. I just don't see as many people spending quality hours as is spent on Facebook.

I use it to meet contacts in the gas and oil industry. Works great for me.

I have an account, but am really not much of a social media-type person at all...basically, in my case, linkedln is just a spam generator...

Who wants to use something that lets people see when you view their profile?

Recruiters call daily because they saw me on Linkedin. Will be useful when I'm in the market for a new job.

Haven't figured it out. Constantly endorsed by people I don't know, for skills I don't have. I ignore it.

I've been really surprised by LinkedIn.

I've had a Facebook page and an account
with LinkedIn. Facebook served no purpose because I didn't give a frick about how anyone's kids were doing but there is a chick I currently want to bang the latter site. When that does not work out I will have neither. Both are fricking useless.

I have this same question. It seems like there are certain people I know who get endorsed for some stuff they have no business getting endorsed for. I really hope jobs don't take that to heart, because I am sure there are "LinkedIn parties" where they just get in an endorsement bukake with each other.

I try not to connect with friends on LinkedIn, unless they're also involved in a similar industry. I also don't endorse people unless there's a legitimate reason to do so, and I expect others to do likewise. It should be treated as a professional networking TOOL, and not social media as we think of it today.

I've gotten legitimate job offers and have also attended conferences that I've been invited to via LinkedIn that were beneficial to my career and led to networking opportunities that I have used in business since.

For corporate oil and gas and IT, it's pretty big. I'm constantly having recruiters contact me.
