Wow. Digne over Clichy is a big choice.

I suppose their game is going to go through Valbuena and Ribery with some combination of Cabaye, Pogba, and Matuidi behind them. I suppose Griezmann has a chance to shine as well.

And why is Ruffier listed as a Forward? He's a GK, and I don't think he is on the 23 man list. He's the reserve GK.

Did he? I really think he could have been a world-class wide forward if he had listened to Wenger. He's a very good AM but asking for the ball to feet and then dribbling slows down his game too much. For four months when he was asked to run off the ball he was awesome at Arsenal. He's played well this season but he has yet to reach that level for Man City, although he's been pretty good.

I wouldn't discount it. Of that tremendously talented class of 87, only Benzema made it. Ben Arfa, Nasri, and Menez are all notorious counts.

i think it had everything to do it. i think he was viewed as a cancer to the team after his behavior last go around.

PARIS (AP) - Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri does not expect to make France's World Cup squad despite his good season in the Premier League.

Nasri said Sunday that ''I'll go on holiday and watch the World Cup on TV.''

Nasri scored the opening goal in Manchester City's 2-0 win over West Ham that clinched the Premier League title. Nasri was also part of theteam that won the League Cup in March by defeating Sunderland 3-1.

Nasri told Canal Plus television that ''I don't have much to reproach myself with,'' adding that ''I had one bad game in Ukraine like most of my teammates. Everything else, it's just pretenses, false excuses.''

In the playoffs, France lost 2-0 in Ukraine in November but then won 3-0 at home to qualify for the World Cup.

Obviously some good players, but I just don't see them going far. Not nearly the star loaded roster you would expect from a traditional powerhouse.
Having said that Honduras, Switzerland, and Ecuador doesn't exaclty make you piss your pants.

What's funny about that? Schneiderlin has been pretty great for Southampton for the past two seasons. I'd love for Arsenal to pick him up.

What kind of form are Yann M'Vila and Marvin Martin in right now? Neither even made the "recent callups" list on wikipedia.

Crazy, does Griezmann play as a wide forward?

I think France could have a pretty potent attack if they set up something like this:

Benzema
Ribery-Valbuena-Griezmann
Pogba-Cabaye

Also, as someone who has lived in France, I can't help but comment on the fact that young Frenchmen only have two hairstyles: shaved, or poofed up like a god damned peacock.

He doesn't often play on the right, but he's basically a wide forward. I'm interested to see how he and Ribery play, as Ribery is most effective on the left.
