Has anybody talked to their Pelicans account rep regarding season ticket renewal percentages?

I am dropping my 4 for non basketball/political reasons and from what I saw about the ability to recoup even a fraction of value on the resale market, I would imagine that many casual fans will choose to not renew.

Are we back to being stuck with the diehards? 8,000 full or so? I was psyched to see us reach the 12,000 figure this past year, but let's be frank... with the rock bottom pricing, rebrand, All Star game hype, etcetera, couldn't it be an ugly hangover next year?

Not unless they recently changed it. I think it was 50% of face value this past season.

Honestly I hope I'm wrong but I think it will be bad for full renewals. The bright side is that the franchise is already worth 100% more than what Benson paid for it, which is absolutely insane. Seattle truly is to the NBA what Los Angeles has been for the NFL.

It also seems like the NBA is destined to become more and more popular, and having AD23 emerge as a top 5 player should have us in solid standing even if it's tough next season starting out.

Hopefully they will make chesty a deal on some tickets. The little lady wants to go to grad school for neurology down there.

I've heard their renewal percentage was up from the same time last year back in April. They were doing better than expected. They are cutting the brokers which makes sense for 2 obvious reason. 1) Why buy from the Pels when you can StubHub better tix for cheaper. 2) Completely screws the STHs trying to get money back on the secondary market.

By cutting, they are really just forcing them to sign contracts that state they will not sell below face value. Should they get caught doing so, the Pels have rights against them, likely including revoking their tickets.

I don't think it's going to be the doomsday renewal rate that most think. Davis has a lot of the holders excited for next year.

Can someone explain the whole "cutting the secondary market brokers" thing to me? Or provide a link?

Are you saying that next year there won't be tickets available on stubhub and sites like that?

The team was selling the brokers tix at a reduced rate. The brokers made a bet the value would be higher and the pels got guaranteed income. Now they are forcing them to pay more and sell at regular, or at least higher, resale.
