If we didn't we would have most likely missed out on Cooks and Lee

Because they knew Cooks wouldn't be there at 27 and really liked him? Cooks is going to be a fricking stud.

I know. These are the same idiots who drafted that loser Vacarro.

not at all, The Saints want that explosive guy which we were lacking. There would have no WRs left and Dennard would have been taking by SD and still will be.

Cooks is a good pick, but not worth giving up a 3rd. In first 3 picks Saints needed a WR, C and LB or S. Cooks is not worth losing out on a C or LB in the 3rd.
Trading up has not worked out for the Saints. They never get value for what they give up. I can see trading up for a Top 10 player if they are around at 20. There are plenty of good players still on the board that would have been there at Pick 27.

Because if you don't you're giving the Eagles another weapon and probably stuck drafting Martin at center.

Because they really like Cooks.

And you don't know how a 3rd rounder will turn out.

Because it's

A) the cost to make the trade
B) was well known that both GB and PHI wanted Cooks, so he wouldn't get past them
