Austin wants to claim Red Dirt so bad, but really their red dirt just doesn't stack up to the acts coming out of Stillwater, Tulsa, Nashville, and Macon, Georgia

He is making some big waves in the Red Dirt scene. He also has his own burger named after him at the Santa Fe Cattle Co. restaurant.

He's a solid Tier 2 artist. Brantley Gilbert is a Tier 1

"The Rigs' music gives off a strong "old-meets-new" rock 'n' roll vibe that can't be concretely locked down. While there may be strong traces of Americana or folk à la Wilco, there are hints of The Rolling Stones' more bluesy offerings, and a little bit of Dylan. For good measure, pepper in a little Tom Waits and something like early '90s Pixies. solid tier 3 red dirt IMO.

you really have exhibited an elementary knowledge of red dirt music. the fact that you have omitted drive by truckers really illustrates how asinine this list is.

Drive by Truckers as a collective is a southern rock outfit, kind of like The Black Keys and My Morning Jacket.

Separately, they are quite the Red Dirt Solo Acts...Patterson Hood is a phenom in the RD scene. Jason Isbell is a big time Red Dirt act, but he sits at Tier 4

It just wasn't Red Dirty enough for me...When I listened to the album, I heard more nods to Brown Dirt Country. It didn't jump out as a clear cut Red Dirt album like Lucero's "Tennessee" album did

I feel bad for real country fans that wander into this thread without knowing the ins and outs of how this board operates.
