Can we do this? Good grief, would be an immediate upgrade and allow us to be contenders next year. If not, Monty gets a 20 game tryout next year, and if it fails we'll have an interim coach and another lottery pick.

Hire him immediately. He is a great players coach and knows a lot more than Monty. Keep Monty as an assistant coach.

I wish.

But its too late. They aren't going to fire Monty.

And you don't fire him until you have it in writing that Jackson will take the job. But, he's going to get hired by the Lakers or Knicks or one of the other much higher profile jobs.

He has proven to be a competent in-game coach, and took a team that may go to the finals to Game 7 with a key piece to his team out.

Monty is going to coach here for another 20 years

We might make the playoffs a couple of times, so there is that to look forward to

He is in the process of getting fired.

Golden State owner and GM meeting with Mark Jackson now, and sources close to management and coaching staff believe Jackson will be fired.

Nope, wouldn't do it.

The internal issues involving Jackson and his staff are signs of a lot of problems. I'm more inclined to see that as part of his management style than the front office screwing with him.

Instead of Jackson, I'd rather bring in Lionel Hollins. Hollins got into a pissing match with Hollinger et all in Memphis but wasn't doing bizarre stuff like trying to fire assistant coach Brian Scalabrine without the ability to do so.

Yeah, there are a ton a red flags with Jackson and how he ran the show in GS.

Also, don't confuse Jackson being a good coach with the meteoric rise of Steph Curry and the arrival of Klay Thompson. Not to say he is a bad coach, but having an MVP player coming into his own at the start of Jackson's regime certainly didnt hurt. Many people will argue that GS underachieved with the talent and depth that team had.

In the middle of a playoff series, he made an adjustment to play Draymond Green on Griffin and go small. In what world or alternate reality, would "etched in stone rotations" Monty, allow himself to make such a crucial move to breath life back into the series? Truth be told, I actually see them as fairly similar. Give me the guy that knows the view of the game from the perimeter over the guy that views the game from the trenches any day of the week in the modern day NBA.

Monty couldn't adjust during the REGULAR SEASON. People are in for a massively rude awakening if we get the treat of seeing him coach a 7 game series.

Further, if guys like Jackson, Thibs, Vogel, etc. open up, and the Pels don't even take the time to look into it, that is a massive failure on their part.

honestly, he's always had a hard on for Draymond. He played a good bit in the playoffs last year as a rookie

One of these things is not like the other...

Thibs is great, but his big problem has been trusting the subs late in the game. Forcing Rose to play too many minutes got them to where they are know thanks to him blowing out a knee in garbage time. That is something he can learn from, though.

Vogel's suffering from locker room issues that were in part foisted on him by management, thanks to sending out Danny Granger while bringing in Andrew Bynum and Evan Turner.

Turner's getting into fistfights with the volatile Lance Stephenson while a bunch of people are claiming that Bynum's gotten into the head of Roy Hibbert, contributing to his total collapse in on-court performance.

Stuff like this is hard for even a great coach to overcome if his hands are tied.

Jackson's a great player's coach but his handling of his assistants and management are a big WTF. That indicates maturity issues that could be fixed but I'm not sure if we'd want to take the risk given that three of his top assistants have been fired, re-assigned, or left for other jobs since the end of last season because of friction with him.

I see him as more high-risk than Vogel or Thibs by far.

This is how my interview with him would go:

Me: Are you Monty Williams?

Him: No.

Me: You're hired.
