Tried to bump the old thread but it's locked.

There seems to be some action lately at the Airline/Barringer Forman intersection.

Is Rouses still supposed to build there?

I sure hope so. Hitting the Rousese by the super dome is a must on trips to downtown Nola

Perkins Rowe was rumored to have a hotel and grocery store.

Sure wish they'd 4 lane Barringer from Airline to Jefferson before all that talked about growth in that area starts.

Yep. They're shooting for a mid-2015 opening. The city-parish just opened bids for the Antioch Road extension which will trigger the Rouses land sale.

What can you buy at Rouse's that you can't get at your regular grocery store?

Having frequented a few in NOLA now I have to say, that they are on part with what Alexander's did as well as the new Payless (Leblanc's)

This is what I'm wondering. I guess they have a lot of specialty items, like homemade sausage and pre-stuffed burgers and what not, that are really well made?

That's my point. Rouse's brings nothing new to the BR grocery scene. I don't get the "OMG I can't fcking wait for Rouses to get here" posts. Alexanders and Leblancs have the same stuff for locals. Throw in whole foods, fresh market, and trader joes....Rouses adds nothing.

It will be some competition to keep, the stores on a higher level, but I don't see this as something we don't already have.

You're right and that's good.

I've already noticed some of the other AG stores stepping up their game a little more over the last couple of years. I think people in general are demanding better things from grocery stores.

Their bakery is pretty damn good, but I agree for the most part.

Alexander's is my Goto spot for specialty items and quick runs. I agree, I really don't know what rouses will bring to the table. I guess it might be slightly closer to my house.
