Well... Frank is a big time gay so it shouldn't be a shock. He only fricks women for power, he prefers the penis.

It was pretty obvious in the 1st Season that Frank likes, or at least liked the D.

There were times in Season 2 that I thought he wanted to make a run at Meecham. I didn't know Claire would be into it until she came in and saw them together that night and gave those eyes to Underwood.

It was a stupid addition to the show, and I choose to forget it ever happened.

Yup. Unnecessary and a cheap way to throw another "shock" moment in IMO

Yea, I wasn't a fan. I've seen some posters and writers give these long drawn out explanations...but I think they just wanted to have some gayness and make some ppl cringe. They tried to make it necessary by having Claire say something like "You needed that", or something stupid like that. I don't know why he needs dick

Because he's gay (or at least bi) but knew he'd have to marry a woman and play the straight guy role to get the power he wanted.

I think it's just another layer of he and Claire's power first, "love" second version of marriage.

Agreed. Kinda sums up the whole of season 2 and why it was so mediocre.. they played up to their reputation of being edgy writers and the story suffered for it. You don't have to shock and cliff hang the audience every episode to be a good drama.

Or the episode where he talked about fricking his college buddy.

The baseball throw was more telling.

Yeah I was a little disappointed with season 2. Still good tv but I felt like it had a little bit of a "trying too hard" feel.

You can't exactly get a full wind-up in a 150 sq ft courtyard.

Maybe you can't. Normal people can. And it's closer to 400 sq ft

or they wanted to do something to better illustrate the unique nature of Frank and Claire's marriage and/or offer something that could cause a political scandal down the road

Why was it unnecessary and stupid?

I don't think it has anything to do with him being "gay". It shows the nature of his relationship with Claire. He doesn't view sex the same way a normal human would. He uses it first for power/dominance and rarely for pleasure. The pleasure side has more to do with people he trusts

It was a little weird, but it wasn't forced or surprising after watching him in season 1

Honestly my biggest problem with it was that I didn't feel like it was realistic because a guy as calculated as Frank, now with so much to lose (being vp and possibly President) and so many other scandals that could bring him down, would take a risk like that on a whim. Especially at that point in the season when shite was hitting the fan with the president and it looked plausible that Frank could replace him.
