A dead Minke whale that washed ashore in New Jersey suffered some further indignity: someone tagged it with graffiti.

The whale, which was roughly 12 to 15 feet long, was discovered Thursday morning below Atlantic City's Central Pier.

Police tell The Press of Atlantic City the purple markings are not gang-related and appear to be Greek letters.

The letters appeared to be Tau Epsilon Phi, a fraternity that has chapters at several area schools, followed by what looked like "94."

Spokesman Jesse Cohen says while it has not been confirmed that Tau Epsilon Phi members were involved, the fraternity considers it a "reprehensible act" contrary to its teachings and is cooperating with authorities.

A state pathologist will try to determine the cause of death.

Why would the police care about someone spray painting a dead whale that washed up on shore? Waste of fricking money!!!

Let's not get carried away here. Immature? Yes. In bad taste? Yes, but let's not go overboard here.

How is spray painting your frat letters on a dead whale a "reprehensible act"?

I'm not even sure what to think on this one. It's pretty creepy actually. Who spray paints a dead fish?

Yes while it may be dumb, the whale was already dead and its not like it was someones pet.

I'm sure those frat bros have tagged a few other whales much more reprehensible than this one.

There are certain people killing others daily in this country and it rarely gets reported but this is "The Big Story" on the AP's site. LOVELY!!!!

Because of the show Whale Wars. There's people out there battling day by day with nothing more than a water hose and these damn kids are defacing whale carcasses. Kids these days

Probably hashtagged or took a selfie too. Back in my day I would have kicked their teeth in and then gone home to beat my wife. The world is fricked, this generation is terrible. (Hehehe)
