Where's the big parade of tanks and missile carriers they used to always have? I guess, I'd be more alarmed if I saw that rather than just a bunch of people holding bunches of balloons.

They're all parked just outside a little south of town, like down by the Black Sea south.

It's a huge rise in nationalism. Putin has the support of the people.

And we ended up in a world war.

that could have been avoided if the neighboring countries in Europe had done something about Hitler early and often...

I don't think we should get involved right now militarily, but these "sanctions" are weak sauce...essentially nothing...which is what they did to Hitler in the 30's when he was violating the treaty of versailles by moving troops into the DMZ rhineland and by issuing conscription in order to beef up his forces...and then when he basically annexed Austria (sound familiar) again...nothing...

had the fricking French and Britain done something at those points when things were not yet progressed....we might not have had to go save their asses...which is what is going to happen here too..

good thing we got a strong president who knows exactly how to handle this situation...

True. Let's talk like conditions. Economy was/is bad. Both take over areas they claimed to be theirs with no response from the world but words.

Both have/had huge amount of nationalism. In both cases, we see "citizens" wanting the protection of the mother country.

Agreed.

Point is, leaders feel powerful with the backing of their people. "Who can stop me when we all are in this together"
