LSU baseball's been national seed or nothing for almost the past decade

It's been a long time since there's been real discussion about LSU hosting a regional without being a national seed.
The last time was 2005.
LSU missed the tourney in 2006 and 2007. National seed in 2008 and 2009. No chance to host in 2010 - shipped to UCLA. Missed tourney in 2011. National seed in 2012 and 2013.
LSU made a living off of hosting regionals without being a national seed from 1999 to 2005. It happened 5 times in that span.
It's interesting how LSU is either really good or bad under Mainieri. There hasn't been any middle ground.

While we weren't a host worthy team IMO in 2010, we were close. We were ranked at the end of the year when we were shipped to UCLA. All top 3 seeds in that regional were ranked.

LSU finished 36-20. 4-14 in their last 18 before winning the SEC tournament. There was no realistic talk of hosting. Everyone here was trying to fabricate some reason to host as a 2 seed.

god i hated that so much. for the entirety of the SEC tourney i had to listen to Kyle Peterson keep saying "LSU is the team to look out for. They arent here but they are going to be in the regionals as a 2 or 3 seed", then that fricking selection show where they lead off saying "weve got a big shocker for some of you folks" and then they spend the last 10 minutes talking about how LSU didnt get in because they werent good enough to make the SEC tourney. Its funny because 3 of the final 4 teams left were SEC teams. Im still fricking salty that Mikie Mahtook's career ended in that abortion.

And the fact that we had a mid-20's RPI. Those are just facts though, no reason for the selection committee to consider that obviously
