Who were you most excited to see play his first football game as a Tiger? Why?

Obviously, recruits are more hyped now than ever before. Paul Dietzel wrote in his book that General MacArthur (who was running West Point post WWII) used to summon him to his office every year to learn about the skills of the new plebes (freshman football players that PD was coaching pre-LSU). I think the General was the exception for his dayand even when I was a boy in the 1980s we usually only knew one or two of the top recruits names. The internet has obviously changed that.
My answer is Russell Shepard. The 5-star hype, seeing him in the high school All-American game, and the way he worked to help solidify his class probably all contributed to that. I have that same anticipation about Fournette. Really excited for the fall, even though he will not likely have the season that Hill had last year.
what say you?

Shep was the first recruit that I was really excited about. I didn't really start following recruiting until after RP came to BR. It would have probably been him though if I had started following sooner.

I remember listening to Carencro football game on the radio and Kevin Faulk saying he was going to LSU to play football. I was only 8 years old and I can't tell you how excited I was to see him play. And of course he didn't disappoint.

I'm more excited about #Buga than anyone else yet. The scary thing is my #2 may be B Harris and they are in the same year.

I'm not even lying - Gunner Kiel
That chestless bastard kinda soured me on recruiting as a whole.

Xavier Carter, RP, Early, Peterson, and Shep are my top 5 in terms of anticipation with LF7 superceeding all of them.

1) LF
2) Russell Shepard
3) I could think of a lot of players below these two that would be difficult to rank

Kevin Faulk for me too....I remember the hype like it was yesterday. And you're right, he certainly did not disappoint

I was really excited to see Garry James play his first game. At the time, he was the biggest recruit to come to LSU in years.
Then he got beat out for the starting job in his first game by another true freshman...a little heralded kid from Patterson named Dalton Hilliard.

Miracle Mike Miley... the man was a legend in the NO area even before he made it to high school.

Perilloux, Shep, and Fournette. Equally excited.

You know what's so ironic looking back is that we WERE all excited about Jefferson...

Mett. Because of our QB situation that really didn't have a qb in it since Flynn.

Jamarcus Russell....all the hype about his arm strength and ability had me looking forward to his time at QB.
