(Somewhat of a) follow-up to the Toyota news--California cows leaving the state

Do you remember the commercials touting how "California cows are happy cows?"

Apparently they're not as happy as you think. The lack of water (both not falling from the sky, and what's left diverted to some obscure marine creature) is driving them--like their human counterparts--to Texas. (Notwithstanding we're in our own multi-year drought)

Well it was corn before ethanol. so I'm sure our government will find a way to turn ethanol BACK into corn, tax it, and feed it to cattle.

or figure out how to capture the methane from a cow's arse and use it to run an engine

It's not an "either/or" proposition. Corn used to produce ethanol leaves dry distillers grain (DDG), which is used in livestock feed due to its high nutritional content. When corn prices fell to below the cost of DDG, ranchers simply shifted to the use of more corn feed. LINK
