are there travel sites or options that will show you all flights

leaving from certain airports, so you could just do a spur of the moment trip

as in seeing where the flights from BR are going to see if any cheap quick trips are available?

Flightaware.com

Middle left of the page says Airport tracker, enter the airport you are interested in.

Enter your airport you are wanting to leave from and it will pull flights out of there for the next few days.

Caveat: doesn't have a ticketing option this site would only be for figuring out where you want to go and then you'd have to use the airline or a travel site in order to purchase tickets.

Googleflights has a pretty good search engine and you can choose from differing days for round trip to see which will get you a better deal. I especially like the graph that shows you prices over a few months to compare.
