So we got a team that plays at pelican park every week. This week our one player with two bats didnt show up so we had to borrow a bat. Anyway, I wanna go buy a bat at academy but all their bats are lumped together. Little league bats with highschool bats, with mens softball bats, with womens bats. How do I tell if im getting a bat thats legal for us to use in our games? Also best bang for my buck? Would like to spend like $150 on a good bat. Is that possible?

Going to have to buy used for that price. Go to softballfans.com/forums. Should be able to find a deal. I was always a Worth guy, just fit my swing. I've heard the TPS Zs are the hottest at the moment.

Call the director and ask if it's ASA or Utrip. Buy accordingly.

Thanks. I assume utrip is usssa? I think thats what is required at pelican park. The website doesnt really make it clear.

All the tournaments I played at Pelican were Utrip. Yes Utrip is USSSA. Pronounced U triple S A. Check your other thread. I gave you all you need.

Just try not to be like the kids I coach.

Kid swings a $350 bat and only hits .235

General rule is

Make sure your batting average is higher than the cost of your bat

When I played back in the day I always used the DeMarini Doublewall. Most leagues allow them and they are great bats. I got a new one every two years cause they loose a little pop after a couple of seasons. They add about 10-20 yards on your deep ball.

Native, what's the best bat inbetween $100-$150 for me? I don't hit for distance, and I'm a fast player. I'm looking for some pop through the gaps and some liners into shallow outfield.

The balls were 50 core then with 500 compression so a double wall worked. Now they're 40 and composites are vastly superior. Really no comparison between composites and metal. That's why the NCAA banned composites for baseball.

That's UTRIP approved?

And is that Aluminum? You wouldn't recommend composite for me?

You said you didn't want it to carry to the outfielders. It's composite handle/metal barrel. If you want a cheap composite here.

Looking at that one I posted, it's an older model. Just make sure you get one with the new stamp.
