What a reasonable charge for a large stump?

Not sure. All I know is I cashed a $97k check for a stump grinder after Hurricane Katrina. Dude put the money in a black duffel bag that had two pistols in it. Said he was driving back to Georgia.

Depends on your definition of large but 3ft diameter or less should be about $100. 3-5ft somewhere between $100-$200.

go rent a grinder at AAA
cheap and tons o' fun
plus you'll have a pile of free mulch

Pie-slice cut the top with a chainsaw, set a fire on top like a Swedish Torch.

Stump and all roots will be gone...no mess and no issue of the stump area collapsing 5 years later when the roots finally rot.

Best of all, it's free.
