My usual disclaimer, I am a football, basketball and baseball fan by far over the “other “ sports but I continue to be amazed by how bad, year after year many of our teams are. I realize tennis has a bad facility, but should we really be last/near last year after year…even behind the Miss schools! Is it unreasonable to expect we at least challenge for an SEC title every 5-10 years in EVERY sport? For the record Men’s tennis has not won SEC in 15 years and the women have never won it. Does anyone find this acceptable?
We MUST have a certain number of sports and Tennis is NO where near as vital as most others, but come on…at least try….
And NO tennis is not all, LSU is IMHO (and the facts show) mediocre at best in at least 9 of our sports... Football is first and always will and should be, but being "bad" for so long is not OK in my book
Flame away, NOT a big deal, but just think it is not acceptable sure many of you do not care, but if you are an LSU fan I feel we should at least give each sport some scrutiny and some chance to win…not over decades of having a team..

Short answer: Alleva's superiors measure his job performance in dollars, not wins or championships.

Why? Just because it's LSU we should be good. Maybe we just sucks at it.

fine, the usual response, not saying we should win every year, not in every sport, not even saying we should be very good or even have a "good" program, just saying every 5-10 years or so we should at least compete against our conf teams, mostly big southern state univ who have similar resources more or less...and in some cases LSU has put MAJOR $$$'s in with little or no reward in wins (tennis is NOT an example of this)...
Maybe Joe A should be judged 20% on the non "big three-four" sports?

Here is your real answer: LSU has the worst facilities in the SEC in tennis, and is in the bottom 10 nationally, which obviously hurts recruiting. But it doesnt stop there, we are the only school in conference without an indoor facility. So every day it rains, they miss practice. Thats right, on average, LSU practices about 20-30 days less than the rest of the SEC in tennis. So the fact that the men's team is usually top 25 is somewhat remarkable

It is actually embarrassing that it took this long before they finally decided to start building a facility. I understand no one cares about tennis and the small sports, but once LSU makes the decision to have a program, it should never be the worst in the SEC and nation in terms of facilities.

thanks, good info, and makes sense, and we are building a new one, but still women have NEVER won, so doubt we have ALWAYS had worst facilities...

The issues run far deeper with the Womens team in the past, but I think with the new coach and the new facility, you will see vast improvement in the upcoming years

As much as you want to. That doesn't mean others will or that it's important to the athletic department.
