Another Discussion/Questions About the 3 and the 5

This certainly isn't new material, BUT I was watching both Williams and Demps on one of the sports reports last night and I found it interesting. And I was hoping to consolidate the issues here (just for me 
).
Williams acknowledge quite clearly that he recognizes the need for someone at the 3 who can consistently hit shots (and, presumably, defend) and that we need a solid big to help AD.
Demps said that, while we may not be able to offer max contracts, we're actually in decent financial shape and can add valuable pieces. He also referred to the Benson family being willing to give him what he needs.
So, my question is, assuming the salary cap increase, the available exceptions (I'm far from an expert on either subject) and our current roster/contract situation, what are the realistic possibilities this off season? I genuinely expect Demps to do something fairly significant. What can it be?

There are so many options and unknowns that I think we the fans will be flying blinder than usual trying to guess what Demps will do.
Option A, Cut everyone but the Finishing 5, Rivers, Withey and Ajinca. Have about $6.7 million in cap space and the $2.7 million Cap Room Exception.
Option B, Keep just about everyone including Melvin Ely and his voidable contract, make some trades and use the MLE ($5 million) and Bi Annual Exception ($2 million).
Monty seemed to feel that SF was the bigger of our 2 glaring holes. If that's the case with Option A I think they would go after Ariza/Sefolosha/PJ Tucker, hope there's enough cap space left over to resign Jason Smith as your starting center, and bring back Morrow with the Cap Room Exception.
Option B would probably involve something like trading for Kosta Koufos and using the MLE on a SF like Sefolosha/PJ Tucker/Jordan Hamilton/Marvin Williams/Richard Jefferson (I think if we just have the MLE Ariza isn't an option). You'd also have to hope the 2/$4 Bi Annual Exception was enough to keep Morrow.
The bottom line is Option A gives you more choices for filling EITHER the 3 or 5 and a better chance of keeping Morrow. Option B lets you fill both the 3 and 5, although the quality may not be as good or long term, and the odds of keeping Morrow go down.

Do you think Hollinger would trade Koufos for as little as Pierre Jackson, and 2 voidable minimum deals (Luke Babbit who you could keep for shooting if you want, and Melvin Ely)? We know Koufos was available at the trade deadline, he'll be on an expiring deal, and he's only played a total of 5 minutes in the 2 playoff games.

yeah, but he played really well his last contract year, too. he didn't play overly well when he was here (though I wasn't as harsh on him as others). he wouldn't be a bad fit with the current team, though. he has the players around him that he needed previously.

And that would be correct...
He was a good supporting player for West and CP3, as a third/fourth option.
Making him a primary option along with Oak? Not so much.
Let Holiday and Davis be the primary options, have Evans at the 2, and let Ariza stay near the arc to take the outlet 3.

I want Thabo real bad then Tucker and Ariza, don't think Richard Jefferson would be a bad get this year...obviously not long term but a nice fill in
On Chad Fords 4.0 mock draft has the Jazz taking Embiid...my thoughts on a center are that if the Jazz take Embiid or even J Randle that makes Kanter the odd man out
After this year Kanter has one more year and 4.5 mil on a contract I'm guessing he will get a substantial contract in the beginning of the 2015 NBA season bc he's a big young 6' 11" center with a pulse and I doubt in the Jazz are looking it give him that contract...question is: would we able to?

Marvin Williams would be a good fit as that interchangeable 3/4 that I think the Pels need, and probably cheaper than Ariza.

I think a lot of it will depend on what happens with Ed Davis and Zbo this offseason, both are free agents. I think they will be cautious with moving him in the offseason because of Gasol's injury this year as well.

You can inflate a lot of numbers with contract year effort, but I don't think 3 point percentage is one of them. That being said, I think Ariza has played well enough that the Wizards will probably try and keep him. Right now they are looking like they'll make it to the 2nd round and the way Indy is playing, they could possibly get to the conference finals.

I think Sefolosha is who we probably end up going after or try to get a guy like Richard Jefferson on a 1 year deal. Like I posted above, Ariza may have played his way into a nice deal from the Wizards. And Tucker does look like an up and coming talent, so why would Phoenix let him go when they have plenty of cap space and he's an RFA?

I don't necessarily disagree but The Wiz have both Martell Webster and Ariza both are relatively similar... I think one will be in Washington next year and the other will be traded
