And in that time it has never seen a World Series championship.

Yep. Just like the OP. A whole lot of nothing.

George Will last night on the Colbert Report said that the physicalbeauty of Wrigley is a big part of the Cubs' failure... that the Wrigleys decided early on that they'd keep people coming back for the scenery over team competitiveness.

It isn't beautiful. It is historic, not beautiful.

When the Ivy is green it is beautiful. Just don't go on the concourse or anything

Sure it is. the outside is beautiful and the playing surface is beautiful. The fan experience part...i'll give you. There aren't any pitch machines or climbing walls to entertain you, and the cealing is held up by netting in certain places. But it's a beautiful place to watch a game.

Also, that cupcake they're giving away today looks delicious.

Only the Bears have won a championship inside Wrigley

no better way to celebrate than with the cubs first winning streak of the year and series win.

Maybe changing the name on the jersey will help the dbacks not suck so terribly much though.

This. The place is a dump, but has a lot of history.

I had a great experience when I went. The city of Chicago approved a $500M renovation last summer for a reason.

I'm not a Chicago native or anything and I'm not attached to the park's location. If the Cubs do move the location of the park, though, they really should rebuild an exact replica of the old park but obviously with the upgrades of today's parks inside.

It needs the bricks and ivy. That park is just so iconic.

That's also to build a hotel, encroach into the street so it can support a jumbotron, a jumbotron, a plaza, extra parking and improved clubhouses. Not to mention that's the owners money so it's not like the city said, hey it's an eyesore and we need to fix it. They just had to get all the go aheads becuase of it's landmark status.

So again the playing surface really isn't changing. So the dump/not dump thing can only apply to fan ammenties and personally i go to watch the game and don't really care if i pee in a trough.

obviously the netting holding up the concrete needs to be fixed/continued to be fixed, but that happens every year and isn't why this renovation is being advanced.
