I was told that Eatel doesn't use a modem for their internet and just hardwires to your computer. Can you just hook up your router to that for wifi or do you have to use their wifi which requires a monthly fee?

I'm almost certain that is completely false.

Do I need a cable modem with my FiberEdge Internet service?
No. No modem is required. We'll run a line directly from your computer to an Internet connection (or "jack") in your wall.

When I had Eatel's fiber a few years ago, all they did was bring the fiber in to a media converter.

I could have plugged the CAT5 cable straight in to my PC.

There was no modem.
