United is selling flights right now $183RT New Orleans to Houston for late August FYI. Cheaper then SW although works out of Bush International Airport which is further away on north side but still not bad!

OK, you BR folks only have 270M +/_ and maybe $40 gas each way so definitely cheaper to drive! Also, driving from Bush to the game area will take as long as flying from NO LOL, I recall from my last trip over there!

When I need to get to Baton Rouge (from Houston) I almost always drive. When you factor-in the drive to IAH, parking, shuttle, the extra hour of airport wait-time, flying to BR saves you all of ~45 minutes vs. driving to BR.

When I need to get to New Orleans, I usually fly. Although, I have also driven, taken a bus, taken a train, bummed a ride on Craigslist - I should take a boat to run the gamut. But flying is far better than the 5h30m drive

Also, driving from IAH to Reliant is 32 minutes. MSY-IAH is ~1h10m (gate-to-gate)

Dang dude!! You'd have to AVERAGE 78 MPH for the whole trip in order to get from Prarieville to the West Beltway in four hours FLAT (and that includes a ten minute Don's stop, so 3h50m actual driving).

In the 100+ Houston-BR trips I've made since 1998, I'll say it can be done... but not on a regular basis. Particularly not in a Friday afternoon/evening traffic. Often the volume of cars/trucks keeps you below 60 for quite a few minutes, so to keep your 78 average, you'd have to be driving 90+ for a decent chunk of that trip. Not saying you don't do that, but you must have better luck with the cops than most folks.

Although, when I do see you whizzing by me at 80+, that's me following you for a few miles... thanks for the cover!!

Definitely agree the flight is much better way to go.
Went to concert at Woodlands last year renting car from Hobby took me several hours with traffic! Don't know if like this every day going that way but was a real buzz killer LOL!

This if you're leaving from Baton Rouge it would hardly save you any time and it be a lot cheaper.

My all time best was 3h 45m from Sugar Land to BR. Hav e no idea how I managed that. Normal time is around 4h 15m

I used to go to school in Houston. When I would come home to Baton Rouge , I would average 85 mph between Houston and Beaumont. But I would wait until I cleared Pasendena , Texas first.

I work in Houston right next to IAH, but I live in Lafayette and I DRIVE back and forth EVERY weekend. Take off at 3AM and at 6:30AM I'm pulling through the gates. Of course it is early in the morning and there is absolutely NO TRAFFIC. Friday evening, during Football season with all my great LSU fans headed to H-Town will be CRAZY...Needless to say, I won't be coming home that weekend!!

I do all the time for work. Get to the BR airport about 30 min before 5am flight, do work / sleep on the 50 min flight. Pick up car and at my clients office by 7:30. No headaches from driving, wear and tear on my car plus able to rack up miles and segments for united status.
